I was toying around with developing a hexagonal version of Angel Blanco's Self-Closing Box. I think the angle change I made was unnecessary for the collapse-mechanism of the lid.
I'll experiment further. This was my first try at doing it different.

Creating a hexagonal Angel Blanco Self-Closing Box
I was toying around with developing a hexagonal version of Angel Blanco's Self-Closing Box. I think the angle change I made was unnecessary for the collapse-mechanism of the lid.

Twisted Box by Susumu Nakajima
Forgot to post this video, earlier:
I met Susumu NAKAJIMA at OUSA one year (2005?). That was the year his Mickey Mouse ears/hat was popular (he brought large sheets of black/red duo kami and was selling packets of them). He was kind enough to snail mail me directions to that model and a fish he designed- I don't even recall asking him to do this.

I didn't get to Garden Grove until 3:30pm (fortunately, few left on time, at 4pm, staying much longer, past time), due to work obligations. It was Jared Needle's first time at Marty's.
Ron Fujioka traded out a few fresh dollar bills with the serial number "1701...", for folding dollar Enterprises. He had acquired around $400 singles initially with that number, having remembered someone searching for such a number (that someone being Fred Upton, who learned to fold Won's Enterprise). Apparently when he told Fred about it, the bank was out of them by the time Fred made it down to that bank.

From December 30, 2012, excerpt from a giant origami crane in Logan Square:
The idea for the crane began because one of her friends, apparently, makes these guys all the time. In fact, as we were chatting in her living room, Sima’s father showed me a small crane that was sitting on the coffee table.
I learned that the crane in the yard does, indeed, light up in the evenings – and is set on a timer (to go off around 4:30 PM). I also found out that Sima has plans to include a workstation outside, where people would be able to write down their wishes for the new year, create their own origami cranes, and add it to the one in the yard.
In a way, this additional component transforms the crane from something you just observe to something that you interact with… as anyone passing by would be able to participate.
