Dr. Robert Lang, via O-List:
Hi all,
OrigamiUSA's online magazine, The Fold, contains both members-only and
open-access content. I recently wrote an article for the current issue on
"Careers in Origami," which is open-access, meaning that you don't need to
be a member of OrigamiUSA to read it. It's here:
https://origamiusa.org/thefold/issue/22
Now, this is very much based on my own experiences as a full-time
professional in this art (now in my 13th year), and there are many other
professional origami artists out there (several of whom have been at it for
considerably longer than me). So it's not by any means a comprehensive
treatise, more of a "here's some useful information". If you are a
professional (or semi-professional) origami artist, I'd love to see your
experiences and/or tips and/or advice in the comments section (at the end of
the article).
Enjoy!
Robert
P.S. And if any of the members-only articles tempt you, I should mention
that Online Membership is available to anyone, is only US$30, and gives full
access to The Fold (as well as a PDF version of the print magazine as it
comes out). Details on that are here: https://origamiusa.org/joinus
